I *did* raise a support ticket, and it was closed and tossed back with the admonishment that I should "post in the forums." This has happened to other people as well.
So I'm posting in the forums.
Which is about as useful as sending in a bug report.

I kind of want to know what others think about this, but alot of people are saying they think ANET made hero AI WORSE so that people would PuG more. In my opinion, they dont have that ability, i mean, yeah, they COULD do that, but that takes actual programming, and as lazy as they are for everything else, do you actually think they would do more work for the game when cupcake skins need to be developed?
I just believe that heroes always sucked, but you can just tell now because the game got harder. Anyone that does Hero Battles can attest that they were terrible long before hard mode.
But again, to re-iterate the point, they dont care anymore. They have squeezed all the money they can out of GW 1, minus GW:EN, so what do they care if they piss us all off, they are planning on getting a new crowd for GW:2.

What makes you think they don't care anymore? As long as I've played, they have continually supported the game; they've hosted several events, added new content, fixed bugs -- all for free (aside from new campaigns). Even this weekend, over a dozen new miniature pets have been added and a celebration along with it. Also, "they are planning on getting a new crowd for GW:2", what would lead you to believe this? That's quite a marketing scheme.

I really thought they would have fixed the AI issues within a week. But, min-pets are more important I guess.

The hero AI is very responsive to enemy AI actions.
It is possible with the change in enemy AI that slight bugs are starting to form with the hero AI being unable to react or reacting wrongly to different actions.
Although hard mode was tested it is impossible to assume all bugs and faults have been ironed out yet.

You mean they tested hard mode without any heroes?

They would have tested it using players, hench and heroes. Then mixtures of the 3.

I didn't read all replies. But I want to say something insane.
That is Chiyo[Spirit Henchman] at Vizunah Square mission in hard mode, her attributes for Restoration Magic is 19, Communing is 16.
Heros won't win.

Well that sucks.
Question: How do you know what Chiyo's attributes *are*?

I agree, they SUPPORT the game, but with nothing too difficult, and are EXTRMELY slow at fixing very important issues, and very quick to fix lame ones (mini-pet noises, cupcakes not dropping, etc)
As far as how he knows the attributes, I would guess that one of her spells did something that could not be achieved till you had 19 in it, im too lazy to go look at skills, but if you check wiki, it normally shows what the spell does up to levels that "can't" be achieved.

Thats nice, but it doesn't excuse Anet from fixing the AI issues. Not only not fixing them, not acknowledging them either, or some kind of a statement would do. People say, enough threads have been made on this, how hard would it be to say that "Its not working, it has to be fixed, we are fixing it and we hope to fix it within 2-3 weeks."
Unless they don't want to fix it, leave it as is and just work on mini-pets and GW:EN

It would be really really nice if we could at least get some acknowledgement of the issue, for the love of god.
My boyfriend and I vanquished Ice Dome earlier with 6 heroes. It took us nearly 3 hours and we finally finished it with our heroes between 45-60% dp (this was after we both ran out of clovers to rid them of their dp) because not a single one of them would move at all if something attacked them. They are still not kiting. They are still not using certain skills. They are still not flagging correctly.
Even if the new stupid heroes are supposed to be that way, it would be nice for someone to at least tell us that.

This is ridiculous. The heroes are just dumb now. How can I justify getting weapons and runes and all sorts of investment for them when they are dumb as dirt? I can't imagine any use for them except for the fact that henchmen are even dumber. They don't even listen to their flags!

Wow, they added minipets. Sure, minipets are nice, but they aren't the point of the game. There are several things that Anet just haven't bothered to do because (unlike, say, Blizzard, who rely on continuing subscriptions) they already have our money and therefore can screw us over as much as they like:- Improved trading system (promised since beta, not here yet)
- Variable-profession Razah (promised in Nightfall MANUAL, not here yet)
- Actually banning/dealing with bots instead of spoiling human players' enjoyment of the game (Anet don't seem to have sufficiently competent employees to do this)
- Realising that Guild Wars doesn't have the player population for an entire game mode (HM) that relies on having sufficient numbers for PUGs in every location in the game (hmm, read Gaile's nonsense-post in the '7 heroes in HM' dev tracker thread)
- Non-pathetic AI. Henchmen and heroes have been deliberately made even more dumb (didn't think that was possible) for hard mode, and this so-called 'ultimate' enemy AI in hard mode is just the same old halfwit AI (using Deathly Swarm on a Ranger, Vapor Blade on enchanted target, etc.) with noob-buffs.

Probably means she has 20 in Spawning too. Only way you can really tell is that Necros have 20 Soul Reaping...

That's so fun! I am just back from a 2 weeks vacation...

The game has become incredibly dull. Normal is so easy it isn't fun for me; hard mode is simply no fun with the current stupid heroes and henches. HM is easy in the low-end areas, but get to later material and the heroes just can't do the job.
To placate the super-casual players, ANet floods the game with trinkets and mini-pets. To satiate the high-end folks, ANet provides farming areas that cater to a very few classes. For the rest of us, there are... other games, I guess..
|
Yes, Anet are really on that slippery slope of making the game less and less fun to play for the non-hardcore non-adrenaline type players. I have been back for more than 12 hours now, have tried HM a little to come to the conclusion it was definitely not fun, and am left wondering what I will do next. As it is, I am NOT excited/interested about playing it even after a full 2 weeks hiatus!

Assuming that ANet knows of the issue we can say that Gaile's silence speaks for itself. It's like ANet saying "we don't want to know about it".
There's 2 possible answers we can get:
1. We want it that way.
2. Oh, we will fix it...
Since all we got is silence another possible answer is that they just don't care 1 bit. Uproar is relatively small and fraction of players who want/need to heroway everything is not that big...
P.S. I dunno whether things said above are true but ignore factor is sure depressing -_-

Perhaps we should throw in a huge rant about how minipets are ruining the game? Then maybe Gaile will suddenly appear.
